Fibromyalgia Study at U of C in Calgary, AB.
The University of Calgary is conducting an ongoing fibromyalgia study into the effectiveness of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), coupled with a medication called D-cycloserine in a double blind study as a treatment for fibromyalgia pain and many of the co-morbid symptoms such as depression and anxiety. The study involves the application of a protocol called intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) to a targeted spot in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex of the brain. The study is being conducted by the team at Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research & Education by Dr. Alexander McGirr and team.
This study is being conducted in Calgary, Alberta and requires several in-person visits over a four week period to the clinic to receive the onboarding, treatment and follow up sessions.
